Professor Lin I
Prof. Lin I, the 1995 AAA Winner, was cited for his
experimental discovery of Coulomb crystals and Coulomb liquids in
strongly-coupled dusty plasma, and the phase transitions between them.
The discovery has cross-disciplinary implications on plasma physics,
condensed-matter physics, astrophysics, and semiconductor
manufacturing.
Prof. I was born in Taiwan. He graduated from the National
Central University, Taiwan, and received his Ph.D. degree from Rutgers
University. He returned to teach at the National Central University
in 1983 and spent a leave working at the IBM Watson Research Center,
New York, in 1991.
