Prof. SUEN, Wai-Mo
Prof. Wei-Mo Suen, the Winner of OYRA in 1995, is cited for his
innovative investigations in general relativity using numerical
techniques, for the discovery and analysis of novel solitonic
solutions of Einstein's equations, and for the development of powerful
new methods for studying the dynamics of the event horizons of black
holes.
Dr. Suen was born and grew up in Hong Kong. After his first
degrees from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, he studied under
Prof. Kip Thorne at California Institute of Technology, where he got
his Ph.D. degree in 1985. Prof. Suen is an associate professor at
Washington University, St. Louis, Missouri.
