Prof. ZHU, Qingshi
The 1994 AAA Winner was cited for his experimental and theoretical
contributions to the field of molecular spectroscopy. In particular, his
spectroscopic studies on molecular local mode vibrations have been regarded
as providing major advances in the area of molecular local mode dynamics.
Having carried out a series of impressive frontier experiments using various
sophisticated laser techniques, Prof. Qingshi Zhu has established himself as
one of the major contributors to molecular spectroscopy and chemical
physics. This is all the more remarkable since many of his pioneering
experiments were carried out with a very long path cell in Dalian,
China.
Prof. Qingshi Zhu was born in Sichuan Province, China, graduated from the
University of Science and Technology in 1968. Prof. Zhu worked at the Salt
Lake Institute, Xining, Qinghai Province, China until 1984. He became the
Director of Laser Chemistry Division, Institute of Chemical Physics, Dalian,
Liaoning Province, China in 1984. He has extensive leaves at some of the
foremost spectroscopic laboratories in the United States and European,
including the University of California, Santa Barbara; M.I.T.; Brookhaven
National Laboratory; Herzberg Institute, Canada; University of Cambridge;
University of Oxford; and University of Joseph Fourier, Grenoble, France.
